something new and different

Here’s a little snapshot of what I’ve been up to lately. As anyone who’s been following me for a while will know, I don’t always get to my own challenges. Several side jobs have made it a difficult past two months in that regard. The big November NaNo challenge has been a struggle as well, yielding only 7000 or so words in total. Thankfully, life provides many of its own challenges without any help from me. So, what have I been doing creatively?

Choreography.

Being an in the moment kind of guy, I don’t often look to plan my dance movement. I just dance. So this is definitely new and different. It was an opportunity to tell a story from the music through motion and it has been incredibly fun. It took us a week and about 4 hours to finish up and now my partner for this dance and I are beginning to tighten up and polish in preparation for Saturday’s performance. I can’t wait!

Oh, and if you’re wondering how it happened? She approached me knowing I was a dance teacher, a lindy hopper and most importantly for the task at hand, I had a background in ballroom. I made the right decision by not thinking too hard about what I hadn’t done, or worrying about what I might not be able to do. I simply said yes and jumped in feet first, and the rest is fast becoming history.

Cheers!

About Kirk

I enjoy life and have been blessed with many different experiences. An eye for the underlying truths that surround me accompanies a growing faith in Christ and God that informs my world and reveals small miracles and beauty surrounding me every day. This is the major reason I felt led to start Dance of 2 Companies - a dance studio where I can share all the little amazing things God's taught me through life as a dancer - about myself, about others, about marriage... and most importantly, about Him.
